The design of Grassy Premiados was sparked during a walk in a park in Brasilia, where a mahogany seed caught the designer's eye. This led to the exploration of other natural forms, such as the shape of the coffee bean and the curves of Oscar Niemeyer's architecture. The result is a design that elegantly and innovatively represents Brazilian symbology.
Grassy Premium packaging stands out not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its functionality. Its organic shapes are modular, allowing for stacking and a unique display method. Additionally, the packaging features an adhesive label solution for quick and varied customization, adding value to award-winning Brazilian coffees.
The packaging is produced using cardboard, matte lamination, hot stamp, and monochrome printing, ensuring high perceived value at a low cost. The labels, made of metallic BOPP film with special printing and cutting, are manufactured on demand in short runs. The coffee is protected in a plastic bag with a valve to guard against oxygen and other external agents.
The design process, which lasted six months, involved market research, creation of alternatives, validation with the client, prototyping, testing, budgeting, feasibility analysis, adjustments, closing files, prototype approval, and final production. The main challenge was to create a paper packaging that was aesthetically pleasing, functional, modular, and easy to use, while also being economically viable.
Grassy Premiados is more than just a coffee packaging design; it's a new concept that elevates the perception of coffee as a product of desire and admiration. This design, which holds 250 grams of coffee beans, aims to enhance the entire production chain, from the producer to the roaster. Its recognition with a Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2022 is a testament to its innovation and excellence.
